The benefit of goji berries is most probably something you haven't explored yet. You probably don't even know what goji berries are. Well, they're a kind of fruit that can be found in Mongolia and Tibet. They have recently been found to provide health benefits. For one, they are great antioxidants. However, there's more! These fruits are truly packed with benefits that you can't help but be amazed by them.

Goji berries are not the first -- nor will they be the last -- of nature's wonders to come to the aid of mankind.

The pomegranate is a fruit whose benefits have been known since Biblical times. The goji berries could have been its counterpart in sacred Tibetan literature.

Due to the great health benefits provided by fruits such as these and due to advancements in technology, it is no longer enough for people to just rely on what is written in sacred writings as guarantee or proof of these fruits' benefits. A lot of medical investigations are now being conducted to learn more about their benefits and effectiveness.

One such finding was reported in the Los Angeles Times on the 8th of August in 2005. This particular finding indicated that pomegranate juice could help prevent prostate cancer.

What Makes Goji Berries Such Wonders

Goji berries are so rich in components that can help keep the body healthy. Among these are the following:

  • They are richer in protein than whole wheat.
  • They contain 500 times more vitamin C percentage than oranges.
  • They have higher Carotene B content than carrots.
  • They contain 21 trace minerals and 18 amino acids.
  • They contain Vitamins B1 and B6.
  • They contain essential fatty acids.
  • They are the only fruits with vitamin E.
  • They can help prevent cancer.
  • They slow down aging.
  • Certain compounds in goji berries help in warding off heart diseases, diabetes and problems with the nervous system.

The Benefit of Goji Berries - Medically Proven?

Although tests and experiments are being conducted on goji berries and their components, it stands that they serve only as dietary supplements, and their safety and effectiveness are not as well tested as in those that are considered medicines.

This lack of testing leads to a lot of unanswered questions. One of these is regarding the amount of berries that should be eaten for the body to intake a sufficient amount of antioxidants. Another is if eating goji berries somehow have side effects such as allergies.

There may not be solid proof regarding the benefits of goji berries. Nevertheless, there is no reason not to try them and feel their wonders for yourself.
