The organic goji berry is the best goji berry and is the one you should try to obtain when you want to include goji berries in your diet. As with anything, nothing beats the 'natural'.
However, due to the excitement over and the demand for goji berries, people have tried growing goji trees and using fertilizers to hasten their growth. People are also tampering with these berries to come up with 'better' berries. However, this is not always good. Although these result in more production, the quality of the goji berry won't exactly be the same.
Organic Goji Berry vs. Non-Organic Ones
Although the organic goji berry and the chemically grown goji berry are the same, one difference between them is that the chemically grown goji berry does not contain as much nutrients as the organic goji.
It is known that the goji berry contains four individual polysaccharides. These contain phytonutrient compounds, which facilitate the communication of cells in the body. The organic goji berry, particularly the one that grows in the Himalayas, has a well balanced level of these polysaccharides as compared to goji berries grown in other parts of the world. Moreover, the Himalayan goji berry has more nutrient density.
Another difference between the organic goji berry and the chemically grown goji berry is that the latter comes with certain amounts of chemicals that may hinder the body's absorption of the nutrients. Especially for the goji juice, it will be quite difficult to tell whether the juice came from the organically grown or chemically grown goji berry.
Organic Goji Berry - Buying Tips
Care should be taken when buying goji berries. Always go for the organic-grown ones so that you get your money's worth and so that you get the nutritional values that you expect.
